Addicted Offender Court Supervision Program (AOP)
Introduction: The AOP involves a designated judge in the close supervision of a limited number of persons who have been convicted of crimes and are also drug offenders, and who agree to undergo drug rehabilitation as a condition of probation. It is designed for repeat offenders who are substance abusers and who suffer felony convictions, typically including drug and/or theft charges. In Shasta County the drug most frequently abused is methamphetamine. This program is not for persons who have a criminal conviction history of violence, sex offenses, weapons use or significant controlled substance sales.

From its inception through 31 December 2003, 155 persons had been enrolled in the program. Of these, 78 (50.3%) completed the program while 37 (23.9%) failed. Forty (25.8%) remained enrolled.
